17 Months Old and Staying Away From Home!

Lucas turned 17 months old on July 19th. Every month I say it, but it is just crazy to me that he is 17 months old. He is so fun and such the little sponge! He is also quite the handful getting into everything and constantly challenging us. I just wanted to write down a few things he is doing now because I don't want to forget them.

When he takes the stairs now, unless he is in a big hurry, he takes them like a big person. Forget the crawling, he is holding onto the wall or railing and walking up and down. When we go up and down we always count the steps and he doesn't usually say one but he loves to say two and he has been saying something that sounds like three, four and five. The nanny said she noticed it as well. He still loves shooting basketball into his goal and now has four different sized balls he scores with, the biggest being my TTU women's basketball. He even backs up and shoots it or gets close and tries to dunk it. When he makes it he cheers and when he misses, sometimes he cheers but we taught him to say boo when he misses! It's funny! He still does the Predators fight song and claps with the right timing, most of the time! He loves to say Tiiiiiiiiitan and chases poor Titan all over trying to ride him. Some new words and some old that he just says more clearly now are, sunshine, moon, stars, uh oh, duh dude, digger, truck, teeth, treat, outside, swing, bye, balloon, nigh nigh daddy (so sweet before bed), nana for banana, up, down, light, and tree. I think there are more but I am drawing a blank. But, one of the things that is so sweet and I am so impressed with is he sings Twinkle Twinkle Little Star! His nanny Brenda reads it to him each day she watches him and after David's hockey game the other night he started singing it in the back seat. Well, I would say it's more of a hum but we knew exactly what he was singing. He says Cackle Cackle and star and some of the other words you can make out but most of the song is sounds that he thinks are the words. I asked Mrs. Brenda if she had heard him do that and she said no but today she called and said he sang it while he was swinging! I will try to get it in video. I noticed the other day is trying to sing alot of things, like the songs to his cartoons, Little Einsteins, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, he even hums a little to Hannah Montana!

One big announcement is that he stayed over night away from us for the first time on Friday, July 20th! He stayed with his Ger Ger while I cleaned our house! He didn't go over there until 8:30 or so but he did so good and so did I! I thought I would cry but he just waved bye bye to me and went on his way! He stayed over at her house until about 1:30 or so on Saturday and had a blast! I was so excited it went well! Thanks Ger Ger!

I think Lucas is so fun because he is very easily amused and that sweet laugh is so infectious! He is such a little cuddler and loves to kiss and hug and we love to be the recipients! What did we ever do without him???

Because I don't have a new picture of Lucas to post with this, I thought I would post a picture of the outside of our house. I took it yesterday when it was pretty and David had mowed the lawn and pulled some weeds.
