Easter was a lot of fun this year! We have been going to the 11 a.m. services at church but since we were having the family over, we decided to go to the 9 a.m. to assure that Lucas got a nap and was ready to enjoy the day! Luckily, Michael and Ger Ger got to church a few minutes early and saved us a couple of seats (several fellow church goers were not happy about this)! It was packed in there and people were standing behind us! The singing and message was beautiful! Lucas wore a suit that Michael had gotten him last year. The waist was a little big still so we pinned it but he looked so cute and said "hubba hubba" when he saw himself in the mirror!
After church, we headed home, put Lucas down for a nap and got things ready for the family. David mowed the front and back yard in hopes that it would warm up for an Easter Egg hunt (it didn't)! I got the snacks and things ready and straightened up the house. Lucas had a 2 hour nap and woke up right when Michael and Ger Ger arrived! Rob and Kendra and my mom and dad also came over. My brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephews had something come up and couldn't make it. Rob and Kendra had gone to the 11 o'clock service so Hayden took a nap after that and didn't come so Lucas was the only kid! I was disappointed because I had stuffed 36 eggs, made them all Easter baskets and had planned an egg decorating contest! Oh well, we did still have fun because Lucas was so full of personality after his nap! Everyone brought something yummy and David grilled chicken. The lady that made Lucas' birthday cake made an Easter cake and put all the kids' names on homemade egg candies. It was very good and too cute!!
When we gave Lucas his Easter basket he threw everything out to get to the good stuff, the candy! He wanted it all! Nana and Papa gave him a basket too and the big winner from them was a match box car and an Easter Thomas the Train! Ger Ger got him a cute, cuddly Easter bunny!
My mom, David, Michael and I had fun (kind of) decorating eggs after the rest of the group had to leave! It was more frustrating than I had remembered! It took longer to color and dry the eggs and then the stickers and things didn't want to stick! I think our eggs turned out...interesting though!
When Michael was the last one there, I had him distract Lucas while David hid the 36 plastic stuffed eggs around the downstairs. For someone who has never hunted eggs before, he really got into it! He got so excited about each find. Afterwards, he opened them all and would scream "yay, more money more money or yay more candy more candy!" The Easter Baskets!
